Everything About The Automatic Responder Email Marketing

The proper use of the automatic responder email marketing can make all the difference in the success or failure of an online business. Setting up an autoresponder and sending your emails isn't good enough. There are a lot of problems you have to deal with.

First of all you must actually pass your message from spam-filters.

The fact that too many uncolicited emails, better known as spamming, are being sent nowadays has made users and providers to use special software named spam-filters or spam-blockers. These sort of software tries to identify spam emails, but sometimes blocks legitimate emails too.

In order to be successful your message must pass these filters. A very good free tool that can help you in this situation is the spamchecker. It tests your message and informs you if it contains words that might activate a spam-blocker.

To find more about spamchecker click here (Also, in the same page you'll find valuable information on how to ask your subscribers to whitelist your email.)

After you've handled this problem you have to deal with the actual automatic responder email marketing.

You see, sending a message doesn't mean that your email will be read by your subscribers. There are many reasons why they won't read it. For instance...

  • Not much time
  • Leave it for later and then forgot it
  • Accidentally delete it
  • Not an appealing subject
  • Consider it a spam etc.

Dispite all the above email marketing is the cheapest and the most effective online marketing therefore automatic responder email marketing autoresponders have been developed.

Now, in order to make your subscribers act to your message they must first read it, therefore it is very important your subject to catch their eye.

So, you must get noticed by your subscribers through your email's subject line, and that means that you have only ONE line (approx. 60 characters) to do the trick.

An appealing email subject must be...

  • personalized. To make them feel this message is for them only, and
  • Interesting. To make them want to know more about it.

Avoid in your subject line...

  • using ALL CAPS
  • using exclamation points
  • the use of too much hype

After the subscriber opens your email you must grab their attention so they keep on reading your message.

In your message you should...

  • Introduce yourself
  • Remind them when they subscribed to your newsletter, and
  • show them the benefits they will have if they follow your tips

Avoid in your message...

  • Grammar errors
  • Overuse of their name
  • Long lines of over 60 characters
  • Long paragraphs

A good trick is to examine and follow the techniques of the newsletters you are receiving from others. Is there something that you like on them? Follow it! Something you dislike? Avoid it!

The next part of automatic responder email marketing is how often you should send a message to your subscribers.

Since you are using autoresponders you can have some pre-written messages that you can send to them at a pre-defined period. For instance you can send them your messages every other day, or every week and so on.

You must avoid sending them messages very often. People will get angry and delete them without reading them.

Also, you mustn't send you messages very rare. People won't remember you and they think you are spammer.

So, when is the appropriate time?

That depends on what your message is about. If you have an informative newsletter you should send it once every week or bi-weekly. If you have a 5-days cource then you can send it every day or every other day.

If you want to send a special promotion or something urgent you can break the above rules but don't do it too often. Make your subscribers feel you are credible, someone they can trust. This is the best way to make them read your messages, eventually.
